March 2017 Newsletter

This is Anna Gawages (right) and Else (left), her Grade One helper, and their class. Recently Else’s home was burglarized. She lost clothes, shoes and electronics. I had just cleaned out half the clothes in my closet, she can take what she wants. It won’t replace what she lost but I know how I feel when we receive a gift, or donation from you. It makes a difference every time.

2017 is our 12 year anniversary at Community Hope. We have a strong local staff of teachers, helpers, cooks and cleaners that make the school happen each day.

One of the constant challenges we face is to not to allow our hearts to become hardened by the constant exposure to poverty. Sometimes we fail and miss an opportunity to meet a real need. But other times like with Else we succeed. She has been with us for 3 years and is such a blessing. She is teaching Afrikaans to our Grade Three class.

Anna is our new Grade One teacher and her class is wonderful. These little learners have hearts and minds to learn and are already beginning to read. John and I took this opportunity to get a class picture. 7 years from now these children will be graduating form CHS. Perhaps by then we will have a High School.

Thank you again for your support and prayers.
